It's starting to come together - Augmented Reality that is!

It's been the buzz for a long time - and the promises of great improvements to data collection, display and integration have been coming from every angle. Until now - all I have managed to come across is a few demos that were porrly done and made no real impression.

Now - the guys at Northern Kingdom, who also brought the world Get The Glass have been at it again. God bless those cold winters up north. They have co-created Ecomagination for General Electric - and made a site that finally starts to use some of the great promises of not only Augmented Reality - but the internet in general. Have a look for your self and take some time to enjoy this amazing work.

In the meantime - what I want to draw your attention to is the amazing feature created to utilize augmented reality and make it easy.

To explain in short - all you have to do is print out a piece of paper that has a predifined image on it. Once your webcam swithes on and sees that image - it overlays another reality. And it does it so well - that it'll blow you away.

I am dying to use this technology for some sort of art installation. In the meantime I just think it's worth thanking the nice guys at Northern Kingdom for bringing AR to the masses. Respect!
